S. Department of Commerce, tinplate imports to the United States amounted to 82,863 tons in August this year, which is 33.0 percent less than in July and 29.4 percent less than last year. In value terms, tinplate imports totaled $122.17 million in August this year, compared with $183.48 million in July and $184.13 million in August last year.
The United States imported the most tinplate from Germany in August - 30,714 tons, compared with 46,704 tons in July and 51,328 tons in August last year. The other largest sources of imported tinplate in August are the Netherlands (26,645 tons), Turkey (8,238 tons), Canada (7,539 tons), South Korea (2,857 tons) and Taiwan (2,572 tons).
