S. Department of Commerce census, imports of rolled plates to the United States amounted to 67,523 tons in August 2025, which is 6.8 percent more than in July and 14.5 percent less than in August 2024. In value terms, imports of rolled slabs amounted to $45.3 million in August 2025, compared with $44.4 million in July and $64.1 million in August 2024.
The United States imported the largest amount of rolled slabs from Canada in August with 25,712 tons, compared with 25,158 tons in July and 47,691 tons in August 2024. Other major sources of imported plates in rolls in August include South Korea with 15,010 metric tons, Brazil with 9,315 metric tons, the Netherlands with 6,383 metric tons, and Vietnam with 5,957 metric tons.
