According to the monthly industry confidence survey published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the confidence index* for the construction sector in Turkey fell 0.5 percent to 84.5 points in December this year compared to the previous month.
According to the indices based on individual questions asked to managers of enterprises in the Turkish construction sector who own private businesses with 10 or more employees in a given month the construction confidence index recorded in the latter three months increased by 1.8 percent to 89.1 points on a monthly basis.
In December, the current overall sub-index of order books increased by 1.9 percent to 78.6 points, while the sub-index of general employment expectations over the next three months fell by 2.5 percent to 90.4 points compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, in this month, managers' expectations for sales prices in the next three months decreased by 2.5 percent month-on-month to 110.3 points.
*Values of the industry confidence index range from zero to 200. When the index is above 100, this indicates an optimistic outlook regarding the current and future period of the sector, when it is below 100, it indicates a pessimistic forecast.
