According to customs statistics published by the Japan Ferrous Metallurgy Federation (JISF), in November of this year, exports of iron and steel products from Japan amounted to 2.40 million metric tons, down 5.7 percent month-on-month and 3.6 percent year-on-year.
In the period from January to November of this year, exports of iron and steel products amounted to 27.80 million tons, which is 3.8 percent less than in the same period of the previous year.
As for Japan's main iron and steel export markets, in the first eleven months of this year, the country's iron and steel exports to Thailand totaled 3.99 million metric tons, an increase of 1.4 percent. and exports to South Korea totaled 3.52 million metric tons, down 19.6 percent, while exports to China decreased 11.8 percent to 2.15 million metric tons. Exports to Taiwan totaled 1.70 million metric tons, up 6.4 percent, while exports to the United States totaled 990,705 metric tons, down 10.2 percent from the same period last year.
