According to export data from the U.S. Department of Commerce, wire exports to the United States totaled 6,315 tons in August this year, up 2.9 percent month-on-month and down 11.7 percent year-over-year. In value terms, wire exports totaled $15.9 million in July, up from $16.1 million the previous month and $18.9 million in the same month last year.
The United States shipped the most wire to Mexico in August with 2,700 tons, up from 2,706 tons in July and 2,554 tons in August last year. Canada was another popular destination with 2,429 metric tons. There were no other significant destinations (1000 mt or more) for wire laid in the US in August.
