Drilling and expansion of iron ore resources
The program included drilling for iron ore mineralization, aimed at expanding known zones and testing extensions of previously identified iron-rich deposits. structures. Saga Metals said the drilling campaign was designed to support the future identification and classification of resources in the North Wind project.
Key points of the field program
- Sampling from the Sokoman formation showed a very high iron content, with iron oxide (Fe₂o₃) values in the gems reaching 84.57 percent fe₂o₃. The company reported continuous mineralization of iron with a high iron content in the stratigraphic units of Lower, Middle and Upper Iron.
- The tests confirmed the presence of taconite iron ore rich in magnetite, as well as deposits of hematite, limonite and goethite. Saga Metals stated that the mineralogical characteristics are comparable to the historical regional iron ore reserves at the KeMag, Sheps Lake and Perro Lake deposits, which previously confirmed good resource estimates.
- The field program revealed iron ore mineralization extending for four kilometers from northwest to southeast, with indications that the mineralized zone continues further to the southeast.
Next steps in the North Wind
The company noted that the completion of the annual field program represents a key milestone in advancing the North Wind iron ore project, and the results of sampling, mineralogical testing, and mapping are expected to guide future drilling, resource assessment, and development planning.
