Following a review of the tariff quota applicable to imports of rebar (Category 13) under codes 72142000 and 72149910 from Vietnam, the UK Trade Protection Authority (TRA) recommended that imports of this product from Vietnam, previously excluded from the developing country exemption, should now be included in the residual quota for Category 13 products.p>
The review for the period from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025 was initiated in November 2025 after Seven Steel UK filed an application stating that imports of rebar from Vietnam to the UK may now exceed the allowable three percent threshold that allows for an exception for developing countries under quota rules, as previously reported. Duration of the updated measure
The updated tariff rate quota guarantee applies for six months from January 1 to June 30, 2026 as a continuation of the annual quota system, which is in effect from July to June. A protective duty of 25 percent will be applied to goods imported in excess of the quota.
