Canadian metals distributor Russel Metals announced that it has completed the acquisition of seven metals service centers in the United States from Klöckner Metals Corporation, a subsidiary of German steel and non-ferrous metals manufacturer and distributor Klöckner & Co., for a total consideration of $102 million.
The acquired service centers are located in Dubuque, Iowa; Charlotte, North Carolina; Suwanee, Georgia; Houston and Austin, Texas; and Jacksonville and Pompano Beach, Florida.
In parallel with this transaction, Klöckner & Co. also confirmed that it completed the sale of its distribution facility in Amarillo, Texas, to Service Steel Warehouse in December 2025.
Russell Strengthens US Presence and Klöckner Focuses on Higher Value-Added Activities
Commenting on the acquisition, John Reed, President and CEO of Russel Metals, said the deal strengthens the company's position in the strategically important US markets, supporting its long-term growth strategy in North America.
Guido Kerkhoff, CEO of Klöckner & Co., noted that with the completion of both sales, the group's strategic focus has shifted more clearly towards higher value-added activities and service center activities. Looking ahead to 2030, he emphasized that Klöckner aims to establish a leading position as a group of metal processing and service centers in North America and Europe, while achieving profitability levels that are among the strongest in the industry.
