According to the automobile market analysis conducted by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), last December, retail sales of passenger cars in China were estimated at 2.296 million units, down 13.0 percent year-on-year, but up 3.0 percent month-on-month.
In 2025, retail sales of passenger cars in China were 23.779 million units, up 4.0 percent year-on-year.
In the month, retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles were estimated to be 1.387 million units, up 7.0 percent year-on-year and up 5.0 percent month-on-month. The NEV market penetration rate was 60.4 percent in December.
In 2025, retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles in China were 12.859 million units, up 18.0 percent year-on-year.
