According to the data published by the American Institute of Iron and AISI, in February 2013, the United States imported 2 million 441 thousand steel products out of which 1 million 819 thousand tons of finished metal rolling, which is 7% less than in January. At the same time, the import of metal products in an annual comparison fell by 15%.
Since the beginning of the year, 5 million 58 thousand steel products have been brought to the US territory, including 3 million 963 thousand tons of metal rolling, which, respectively, is less than in 2012 by 9 and 8%.
AISI experts predict that according to the results of 2013, the United States import 30 million 300 thousand steel products, including 23 million 800 thousand tons of metal rolling, which is also 8 and 9% less than in 2012.
The main supplies of steel to the United States in February 2013 were: South Korea (249 thousand tons, -31%), China (143 thousand tons, -15%), Japan (126 thousand tons, -10%), Turkey (114 thousand tons, -15%) and Germany (100 thousand tons, -36%). In the first two months since the beginning of 2013, the largest suppliers were: South Korea (611 thousand tons, -7%), China (311 thousand tons, -65%), Japan (265 thousand tons, -14%), Turkey (249 thousand tons, -29%) and Germany (173 thousand tons, -4%).
