New wheelset designed for 35-ton axle loads
The ULT35 wheelset was developed by Interpipe's research and development specialists as part of the company's FINAL product range for demanding freight transportation. According to the company, the new design can withstand axle loads of up to 35 tons, which is significantly higher than the more common axle loads of 20-25 tons commonly used in freight rail transport.
Wagons operating with 35 mt axial loads are used only in a limited number of countries and for specialized transportation applications due to the need to strengthen railway infrastructure. Such operating conditions also require higher strength of wheels and axles, increased wear resistance and increased durability under extreme loads.
A design designed to extend the life of the wheelset
Interpipe has stated that the new wheelset design will be a standard solution for its long-term Swedish wagon manufacturing partner specializing in heavy wagons.
The company noted that although the wheelset was designed for 35 m axle loads.,
