The export of reinforcement from Turkey fell by 19% in February 2013
According to the Turkish Institute of Statistics in February 2013, the export of reinforcement amounted to 660 thousand 466 tons, which is 19.4% more than last month, but 19% less than in February 2012. However, in case of falling volumes, export income increased in both annual and monthly calculus. The total cost of reinforcement exports in February 2013 amounted to $ 393 million, which is 20.8% more than in January 2013 and 24.6% more than in February 2012. Interestingly, Türkiye exported 64.5% less reinforcement to the European Union countries than a month earlier. Nevertheless, the volume of Turkish exports to the EU was twice as large than in February last year. The export of reinforcement to North Africa decreased by 47.9% in an annual comparison, but almost three times grew since last month. The main consumer of Turkish reinforcement remains the Middle East, who bought 12.4% more metal production in February 2013 than in January and 13.3% more than in February last year. Meanwhile, during the first two months of 2013, the total export of steel reinforcement from Turkey fell by 16.5%, while the total revenue from exports amounted to $ 713 million by decreasing by 22.5% compared to the same period last year.
