However, in case of falling volumes, export income increased in both annual and monthly calculus. The total cost of reinforcement exports in February 2013 amounted to $ 393 million, which is 20.8% more than in January 2013 and 24.6% more than in February 2012.
Interestingly, Türkiye exported 64.5% less reinforcement to the European Union countries than a month earlier. Nevertheless, the volume of Turkish exports to the EU was twice as large than in February last year.
The export of reinforcement to North Africa decreased by 47.9% in an annual comparison, but almost three times grew since last month. The main consumer of Turkish reinforcement remains the Middle East, who bought 12.4% more metal production in February 2013 than in January and 13.3% more than in February last year.
Meanwhile, during the first two months of 2013, the total export of steel reinforcement from Turkey fell by 16.5%, while the total revenue from exports amounted to $ 713 million by decreasing by 22.5% compared to the same period last year.
