The China Ministry of Industry announced on Thursday that in 2013, outdated metallurgical equipment would be deduced with a total capacity of more than 7.8 million tons of steel. This step will be a continuation of the plan to strengthen and modernize the extensive and chaotic metallurgical sector of the country. This is stated in the statement of the ministry.
The new government of China set its goal once and for all to solve the chronic problem of excessive steel -melting capacities in the industry. According to artificial data, the total capacity of the Chinese market of raw steel currently does not exceed 700 million tons per year, while the production of capacities of 900 million tons is involved in the production.
The statement published on the website www.miit.gov.cn states that China intends to reduce the capacity of the production of coke by 14 million tons, ferroalloys by almost two million tons and aluminum by 27 thousand tons.
In addition, the China government promises to cut the production of copper by 665 thousand tons, lead - by 879 thousand tons and zinc for 143 thousand tons.
