The growth of steel and metal products in the CIS will slow down to 2 percent, reaching an indicator of 57 million 600 thousand tons in 2013. This was reported by the World Association of manufacturers of steel Wordsteel.
Russia will remain the locomotive of the consumption of metal rolling in the CIS, somewhat compensating for the rapidly decreasing demand for steel in Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
In 2014, the consumption of metal products in the region, as it is expected in Wordsteel, will increase by 3.8 percent to 59 million 800 thousand tons with improving the position in foreign markets.
The resumption of energy projects in Russia will have a positive impact on the demand for steel. According to Wordsteel, steel consumption in the Russian Federation will grow by 2.6 percent in 2013 and will be 42 million 900 thousand tons, while in 2014 it will increase by 3.9 percent and reach 44 million 600 thousand tons.
