The decline in industrial production in Ukraine in March 2013 reached 5.2 percent compared to March 2012, although in relation to February, industrial production increased by 11 percent. This is stated in a statement by the State Statistics Service.
The first quarter of the current year by January-March of the past, the fall amounted to 5 percent, while in the first three months of 2012 an increase of 1.8 percent was recorded.
Recall that the analysts surveyed by Reuters predicted the reduction of Ukrainian industrial production in March of this year in annual terms by 2.9-3.0%, which is two times better than in reality.
According to statistics, in March of this year, compared with March 2012, growth was recorded in the mining industry and the development of quarries by 0.5 percent, in particular, in metal ore mining - by 3.3 percent, while the production of oil and brown coal has laid a decline of 3.3 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.
Also, growth was recorded in the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals by 17.6 percent; production of products made of wood, paper and printing - by 1 percent; In the production of furniture, other products, repair and installation of machines and equipment - by 0.7 percent.
In general, in March 2013, against March 2012, most industries showed a decline, while the largest decline in production volumes was recorded in the production of electrical equipment - by 38.3 percent, the production of chemicals and chemical products - 23 percent.
In metallurgical production, the fall was 7 percent, in engineering - 20.3 percent.
It is also reported that in March 2013, against March 2012, an increase of 0.5 percent was recorded in the distribution of electricity, gas and steam, against February 2013 - 8.2 percent.
