Excessive metallurgical capacities reached 600 million tons

Speaking to foreign investors at the conference organized by Sberbank of Russia, the general director of OJSC Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant Vladimir lisin said that an excess of metallurgical capacities around the world reached 600 million tons.

"The crisis that the world metallurgy encountered, unfortunately, does not have a quick solution. Against the backdrop of a weak growth in demand, there is a record excess of production capacities that reach up to 600 million tons. At the same time, the crisis will have a" healing "effect. Weak, ineffective companies will leave, leaving the place more adapted for survival. Together with difficulties, opportunities are also revealed: to increase production efficiency, to hone the use of technologies, to expand the product line and presence in promising market niches, to improve the quality of the service, ”lisin said.

Russia has good prospects for the development of the metallurgical complex, while NLMK has some advantages such as resource support, high qualifications of employees and wide geography of assets. Working in Russia is interesting and most importantly, according to the head of NLMK, that "the difficulties are overcome, there is a process of improvement, new market and production capabilities are opened."
