The Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant (MMK) in the first quarter of 2013 reduced the production of steel by 10 percent to 3 million 75 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the press center of the MMK.
In the indicated period, the production of metal rolling decreased by 5.5 percent to 2 million 844 thousand tons. At the same time, the smelting of steel in the first quarter of 2013 increased by 3.6 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2012, and the production of metal products increased by another 3 percent.
MMK is one of the world's largest steel producers and occupies a leading position among Russian ferrous metallurgy enterprises. In 2012, the MMK group increased the production of steel by 6.9 percent to 13 million 37 thousand tons, commodity products - by 7 percent up to 11 million 936 thousand tons compared to 2011.
The beneficial owner (about 87 percent) of the shares of Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant OJSC is the chairman of the board of directors of the company Viktor Rashnikov.
