German steel company Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann (HKM) is preparing to restart its blast furnace B after completing scheduled maintenance and major repairs that began at the end of May 2026, according to an OPIS report.
Although HKM has not announced an exact restart date, equipment tests will be carried out over the next two weeks before the furnace is put back into operation.

During the shutdown, the refractory lining inside the blast furnace B was completely renewed, and its refrigerating chambers were replaced. HKM has also inspected and repaired parts of the furnace that cannot be accessed during normal operation.
The annual capacity of blast furnace B for the production of pig iron is 2.7 million tons. HKM also operates blast furnace A, which has a capacity of 2.5 million tons per year.
