As of August 31 of this year, the total domestic stocks of the five main types of finished steel products in 21 major cities of China amounted to 9.71 million tons, remaining stable compared to August 20, compared with a decrease of 1.5% recorded in mid-August (August 11-20), as announced by the Chinese Black Steel Association Metallurgy (CISA)).
Steel demand remained sluggish during the traditional off-season, as typhoons hit China, which contributed to an increase in stocks of some types of finished steel products during this period.
In particular, as of August 31, domestic reserves of HRC decreased by 2.1 percent, while domestic reserves of medium-quality sheet steel remained at the same level. The situation is stable, while domestic stocks of CRC, wire rod and rebar increased by 0.7%, 2.4% and 0.5%, respectively, compared with August 20.
