In accordance with the Forecast of the Institute of Steel Aço Brasil), the production of steel in this country will increase by 5.8 percent by the end of the year and amount to 36 million 500 thousand tons. At the same time, the consumption of metal rolling will grow by no more than 4.2 percent - up to 26 million 200 thousand tons.
According to the executive director of the institute Mr. Marco Polo de Mello Lopez, the estimates were carried out on the basis of a forecast of 3.7 percent of the growth of gross domestic product of Brazil. If the forecast for GDP is incorrect, the numbers of internal consumption of steel in Brazil can be revised, Marco Polo emphasized.
Sales of metal products in the domestic market of Brazil in 2013 will amount to 23 million 200 thousand tons, which is 7.6 percent more than in 2012. The exports of steel from Brazil will grow by 8.8 percent - to 8 million 900 thousand tons, while imports will be reduced by 15.4 percent - to 3 million 200 thousand tons.
