World prices for hot -rolled and cold -rolled stainless steel roll in April decreased by $ 80 per ton. At the same time, the internal prices for stainless steel fell in all studied countries with the exception of Japan. This was reported in the European analytical agency specializing in metallurgical reviews MPS.
The demand for stainless steel remained low in all regions. Sales of stainless steel will continue to fall due to the reduction in the use of steel in finished products carried out by end consumers.
No serious prerequisites for the restoration of stainless steel consumption from the end users of this product are not predicted. Nevertheless, MPS analysts do not allow a sharp drop in prices much lower than the current level over the next twelve months.
Perhaps some revitalization of the stainless steel market in the third quarter, after the end of summer holidays. However, the traditional weakening of demand in the fourth quarter can lead to a further drop in prices.
The resumption of price growth for stainless steel will not occur until the beginning of 2014, when the distributors will have to replenish warehouses after the winter. Until then, enterprises manufacturers of stainless steel are forced to reduce prices. The Chinese Baosteel and the South Korean Posco recently announced their cheaper offers.
