The Trade Union of Coal Industry Workers of Ukraine reports on the decline in coal production in January-April 2013 by 5 percent. According to the report, the mining of coal over the first four months of this year decreased to 27 million 800 thousand tons from 29 million 300 thousand tons in the same period in 2012.
At the same time, coal mining in April 2013 compared to the previous month decreased by 5.9 percent to 6 million 682 thousand tons with 7 million 100 thousand tons.
Earlier it was reported that according to the results of 2012, coal mining enterprises increased coal production by 4.75 percent - to 85 million 745 thousand tons from 81 million 859 thousand tons in 2011.
Over the past two years, the Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly declared a transition to a strict regime for saving energy resources due to a high price for Russian gas, as well as plans for its partial replacement by domestic coal.
Recall also that almost all Ukrainian metallurgical plants report a decrease in production volumes.
