The trade union organization of New Zealand EPMU is disappointed with the Rio Tinto refusal to pay the due monetary reward to its workers for work on holidays. This is stated in the message EPMU.
Rio Tinto has never paid for bonuses for standard wages when employees go to work on weekends and holidays. It was this circumstance that interested EPMU lawyers who said that "it is extremely clear that Rio Tinto did not pay its workers compensation in several years. We believe that the time has come to pay for the debt. The laws of New Zealand are the same for everyone, whether Rio Tinto or any other company."
According to Greg Lloyd, the main legal adviser of EPMU, he knows that the largest mining company in the world of Rio Tinto is faced with financial problems today, however, according to Mr. Lloyd, the payment of the allowance for Rio "is such a nonsense that is unable to have a significant impact on the future of the enterprise."
