The Donbass Industrial Union chooses between the sale of the Polish factory or the reduction of its personnel

According to the financial director of the Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD) Evgeny Potapov, the company is now considering two options for the development of events at the Polish Metallurgical Plant of the HUTA CZESTOCHOWA group. The first is a decrease in the number of workers, and the second sale of steel-global production, ForbS-Ukraine reports.

Most likely, the ISD will be reduced by personnel, since it is unlikely that it will be possible to sell it at a normal price. Huta Czestochowa includes an electrostal -melting and leaflet workshop with a total capacity of about one million tons of hot -rolled steel per year. In connection with a protracted crisis in Europe, where the drop in demand for metal rolling has reached more than 30 percent since 2007, the cost of metallurgical assets is low than ever.

Meanwhile, the reduction of workers can also become very obscene, since when buying Huta Czestochowa in 2005, the ISD guaranteed to preserve the number of personnel at the level of 5.5 thousand people, and in case of dismissal, the corporation will be obliged to pay all the doubles of the wage until the end of the guaranteed deadline.

What the Ukrainian corporation is not yet known from two evils. According to the calculations of the ISD, to maintain zero profitability at the Polish control room, it is necessary to dismiss at least one thousand people. The head of the press service of Huta CzestoCHowa, Yatsek Lepski, said that the ISD is conducting appropriate negotiations with local trade unions, hoping to mitigate the terms of payments. However, Evgeny Potapov refused to comment on the prospects of personnel reduction. “We want to save the plant as part of the group and make it profitable,” he said.

On the other hand, as experts note, the Polish Act of the ISD is a good enterprise. After its acquisition, Ukrainian businessmen conducted expensive modernization of the rolling camp and today such a plant can cost about 500 million euros. The most real Buyers of Huta Czestochowa can be the Ukrainian Metinvest, Russian Severstal or Evraz, but all these companies received a negative financial result in the past year and will be extremely careful in mergers and acquisitions.
