In St. Petersburg, the sixth Nevsky Ecological Forum took place on Cort, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Gleb Nikitin, assured the audience that the Martinovsky industry had become closed at Russian metallurgical enterprises.
"Until 2015, the Martinov production plant should be completely eliminated," Nikitin said. According to the deputy minister, metallurgy generates about 30 percent of all industrial emissions into the atmosphere and more than 6 percent of wastewater. Being the most “dirty” industry, Russian metallurgy should switch to a more modern electrometallurgical production of steel as soon as possible, said Gleb Nikitin.
According to him, until 2020, the metallurgical industry of the Russian Federation will reduce the emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere by 84 percent and will half reduce wastewater pollution.
Russia will close the March production until 2015
