Commenting on the meeting of the European Council on Wednesday, May 22, the General Director of Eurofer, Mr. Gordon Moffat, said that the European Council must change the EU policy, sending it to the channel for ensuring industrial growth, creating new jobs and introducing innovations.
According to Eurofer, the European Council must set clear goals aimed at reducing the rupture in energy prices for industrial consumers in the EU and their main competitors, namely in the USA.
The climatic policy and its goals should be attached to the specific sectors of the industry, taking into account the technological capabilities and the reserve of vitality for the industry, given the global trends. "No company will invest in Europe if unrealistic goals are set here in the field of emissions, thanks to which energy pricing price is four times higher than in other countries of the world," Moffat emphasized.
EU countries should develop new approaches in which the achievement of goals set in connection with climatic changes would contribute to objective industrial growth and legal certainty in Europe, according to Eurofer.
The European Union should make priority the growth of industrial production and workplaces - Eurofer
