According to the data published today, the Turkish Institute of Statistics, this country in the first quarter of 2013 significantly increased the import of metal products. So the import of steel pipes increased by 11, 3 percent - to 48 thousand 109 tons, and the import of steel blanks and slabs increased three times - to 527 thousand tons, both indicators in relation to the first quarter of 2012.
In March of this year, the import of a steel pipe into Turkey amounted to 19 thousand 28 tons, which is 33.45 percent higher than in February and 12.2 percent more than in March last year. At the same time, Turkish buyers prefer products from Europe than buying pipes for the production of Russia or Ukraine. The level of sales of pipe products from the CIS countries in the first quarter of 2013 to Turkish consumers has been at a record low since 2009 and amounted to 6 thousand 517 tons while deliveries from the EU grew to 12 thousand tons. The import of steel pipes from China to Turkey increased in annual calculus by 20 percent and amounted to 24 thousand 609 tons.
As for the supply of workpieces and slabs, then the CIS and China are leading the leaders. Compared to the previous month, the supply of these products to the country in March grew by 12.4 percent and amounted to 184 thousand 651 tons.
