Due to the presence of large scrap metal reserves in warehouses, the metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine have been refused to purchase scrap metal for the past two weeks. According to OP Metallurgprom, although in general, over four months since the beginning of the year, the supply of scrap metal fell by 5 percent, only in April 2013 the amount of scrap in enterprises increased by a third and amounted to 230 thousand tons.
According to the head of the Ukrainian Association of Secondary Metals (UA "Tutormet") Valentina Makarenko, his organization has regularly appealed to the government for the situation in the scrap metal market over the past two years and asks to resolve exports.
“Since August 2011, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine has not agreed on a single contract for the export of scrap metal of ferrous metals from Ukraine in accordance with the current legislation and the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers,” Makarenko said.
Meanwhile, prices in the foreign markets of scrap metal continue to fall. As reported, the purchase of scrap in Turkey occurs today at 360 dollars per ton with delivery (CFR) while a month earlier the price was at the level of $ 400.
According to UNIAN, Ukrainian metallurgists in an attempt to press local scrapers can significantly suffer in the near future, in which, according to the forecast of Dalfi analysts, the scrap metal will be very expensive, and provided that there will be no one and that is more expensive.
