In the 1st quarter of 2013, the indicators of the German steel industry decreased

The Association of German manufacturers of steel and WSM metal reported that in the first three months of this year, the German metallurgical industry reduced the indicators by 2.1 percent compared to last year.

In the first quarter of 2013, 5.2 percent decreased sales on the domestic market, at the same time, compared to last year, export increased by 1.5 percent in an annual comparison. The number of new orders in the first quarter of this year fell by 4.4 percent. At the same time, orders in the domestic market decreased slightly, but the number of new orders from abroad decreased by almost 10.7 percent.

The production of hot -rolled steel products of the country fell by 1.3 percent to 9 million 400 thousand tons. The production of sheet rental decreased by 0.6 percent in an annual comparison of up to 6 million 200 thousand tons, and varietal rental by 2.8 percent per year up to 3 million 200 thousand tons.

In the first four months of this year, the production of steel in Germany amounted to 14 million 400 thousand tons, which is 0.5 percent lower compared to the same period in 2012.

The German WSM Association clarified that the negative growth rates were due to relatively high indicators in the first half of 2012, which weakened in the second half of last year. Compared to the last quarter of 2012, all the results of the first months of this year show an improvement.
