Arcelormittal launches a project to reduce pollutant emissions

ArcelorMittal запускает проект по сокращению выбросов загрязняющих веществ
In the Czech Republic, the manufacturer of steel Arcelormittal Ostrava (AMO) signed a contract for the supply of technological equipment that reduces the emissions of nitrogen oxides with CKD Praha Diz. The launch of an ecological project worth more than 1 billion Czech crowns will help to significantly reduce the number of pollutants.

The company is still among the largest environmental pollutants in the Moravskoslezsky region in North Moravia. The new technology should ensure a reduction in annual nitrogen oxides by at least 600 thousand tons per year, that is, by one quarter compared to 2012.

The construction of a new technological facility should begin in July. Its commissioning is scheduled for the beginning of 2015. Mr. Tapas Rajderkar, General Director of AMO and chairman of the board of directors, said that the object is a high-tech and expensive solution using the most advanced technologies. Almost these are used by the company coloring, who knows three ways to restore the van of St. Petersburg .

Amo began the desulfuration of the boilers in 2011. The project cost will exceed 500 million kroons. Nevertheless, the company finances the project at the expense of its own funds, but plans to use European subsidies to invest in a decrease in nitrogen oxides. The subsidy should cover 40% of the cost of the project.

Mr. Peter Baranek, chief executive director of Arcelormittal in Ostrava, said: "These investments will allow us not to exceed the emissions established by European law, since after 2016, maximum emissions must comply with the provisions of the European Union about industrial emissions"
