According to statistics, iron ore imports in China amounted to 68 million 560 thousand tons in May 2013, which is 2.1 percent higher than in April. At the same time, in five months since the beginning of the year, import growths amounted to 4.7 percent. In total, in January - May 2013, 322 million tons of iron ore raw materials were imported into China.
An increase in supplies was achieved due to the record increase in steel production, the daily smelting of which in China exceeds 2 million tons.
Despite the overproduction, the falling prices and rising costs, Chinese metallurgists continue to work at full capacity and try to push competitors with all lower prices, despite the fact that profitability is almost at zero.
Meanwhile, the prices of iron ore with iron content of at least 62 percent fell 18 percent from the beginning of the year and, judging by the information coming from the markets, will continue their fall, to the level of $ 1,110 per ton.
Import Iron ore to China grew by two percent
