The director of the regional department for environmental protection in Taranto, Madame Maria Sparter sent an open letter to the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Italy in which she indicated that the ILVA metallurgical plant continues to pollute water and air and there are no hints of reducing the level of emissions.
Recall that the public of the city of Taranto is fighting for its rights for several years now and last year the confrontation resulted in a court decision on the stop of production steel at the Ilva metallurgical plant. However, later, the government of Mario Monte issued a special decree in which about 20 thousand people in southern Italy allowed the enterprise that ensured employment.
Emissions at the ILVA metallurgical plant remained at the same level as a year ago
