For the implementation of the program to combat climate change, Europe should find other sources to reduce CO2 emissions, since the metallurgy reached the limits of its technological capabilities, said Mr. Gordon Moffat, CEO of Eurofer.
The steel industry is able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a maximum of 15 percent until 2050, Moffat says. Therefore, ecologists should look for additional sources, as well as the technological and economic foundations to achieve the goal to reduce emissions of CO2 by 80 - 90 percent until 2050.
Recall that the European Steel Industry Supporting Industry Plan for the European Station contains the norms weakening the requirements for metallurgy in the field of emissions reduction. And it was Eurofer that persistently lobbied for these points.
