Ukrainian meat processing plants buy scrap metal by one and a half times cheaper than Turkish

In mid -June, the price of scrap metal in Ukraine fell to $ 250 per ton. This figure became the lowest over the past three years and continues to fall. So, according to the SE "Ukrpromvneshekspertiza" (UPE) at the level of the chipping sites, scrap metal is already taken by 1700-1800 UAH per ton (210 - 220 dollars).

The main factors in the drop in scrap prices in Ukraine were the reduction in production and a decrease in steel prices, as well as the growth of scrap reserves in the warehouses of metallurgical plants.

Despite the stable decrease in prices, the export of scrap metal on the co -tankines of Ukraine in May of this year decreased slightly, by only 16 thousand tons, and in total amounted to 542 thousand tons. However, this is almost 75 thousand tons more than the estimated need for metallurgy. In such conditions, manufacturers became able to send excess raw materials to replenish warehouses, which in early June increased to 279 thousand tons, and in the middle of the month to 360 thousand tons.

As noted in UPE, today more than a third of all the long -terming sections of the country have been forced to stop the acceptance of scrap metal, hoping that a significant reduction in the supply in the market would force Ukrainian companies to abandon the pursuing policy of unilateral scrap price.

Recall that in April Türkiye purchased more than one million tons of scrap metal at a price of 360 - 380 dollars per ton. Due to the restrictions on scrap exports from Ukraine, domestic enterprises do not have the opportunity to export this raw materials since the end of last year.
