Taruta threatens a stop of metallurgical production

Cutting of the import of coking coal, like any non -market restriction of freedom of entrepreneurship, can lead to a stop of a number of metallurgical plants of Ukraine. This was announced today during the round table by the chairman of the board of directors of the Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD) Sergey Taruta.

If the government decree on the restriction of coal imports remains in force in Ukraine several plants will be stopped. The subsequent launch of which will lead to additional costs for adjusting the equipment associated with rewind the engine of the engine and the replacement of some technological nodes. According to Taruta, the Council of Directors of the ISD has already considered the issue of the appropriateness of further work of the Dnieper Metallurgical Plant named after Dzerzhinsky (DMKD).

“Losses that can follow in the absence of high -quality coal can lead to large costs, cost growth. Therefore, it is easier to close the plant and pay salaries to people, the further work,” said the ISD head.

The calculation of the Cabinet of Ministers for the fact that quotas for the import of coking coal will force metallurgists to buy more Ukrainian coal is unjustified. The low quality of domestic raw materials will not allow the use of energy coal in modern metallurgical production.

“Now no one dares to fill the 66th gasoline into high -quality cars. Here we, metallurgists, today cannot buy poor coal to help out energy,” Sergey Taruta emphasized.

According to the head of the Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine Sergey Belenky, the closure of the DMKD can cause a chain reaction in the Ukrainian economy. In this case, the state will lose hundreds of millions of hryvnias, says Belenky.

Recall that in March of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, with its Decree No. 225 introduced a quota to import coal (coking, bituminous and other species) of 10 million 200 thousand tons. The Ukrainian government forbade the import of coke and semi -lane, as well as rotary coal.
