STEMCOR, one of the world's largest metal traders, announced the closure of WSK Stahlhandels GmbH, its special trade agent in import steel in Germany. The company will be closed on June 30, 2013.
These changes will affect 27 employees, most of whom are busy in Nuremberg.
Over the past few years, the role of traders on the market of Germany has gradually decreased and the decision to close the WSK Stahlhandels GmbH was made as a result of a combination of adverse market conditions and increasing the influence on the customer base of the WSK other suppliers - local exchange companies. Together with the closure of WSK, it was also decided to leave the pipes market in which WSK occupied a strong niche. For a certain period of time, WSK will retain a small group of employees who will manage existing orders and liquidation of cash equipment and stocks. None of the other enterprises owned by STEMCOR in Germany will be affected.
The Managing Director of STEMCOR Deutschland Holding GmbH, Mr. Robert Van der the eyelid, said the following: “STEMCOR continues to be a prosperous enterprise in trade and distribution of steels with warehouse and office centers throughout Germany, with the main office in Dusseldorf. Today's trade volumes are 750 thousand tons a year, and we are We intend to develop some key production lines, and we will also strive to concentrate on the final buyer more, since we can get more profit when setting the exact delivery time.
Mr. Julian Werder, Chief Executive Director of STEMCOR, noted that "our company intends to maintain extensive influence throughout Europe, focusing on those objects where we can get the greatest profit in the steel supply chain."
