Steel production in Ukraine continues to decline

In June 2013, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises were smelted 1.1 percent less steel than in the previous month. In total, in Ukraine, 2 million 727 thousand tons of raw steel were produced in Ukraine, which is 2.4 percent less than the APPG-2012 indicator.

During the first three spring months of 2013, daily production was steadily reduced. So if in February in Ukraine they melted on average 93 thousand tons of steel per day, then in March this indicator decreased to 92.8 thousand tons, in April - to 91.6 thousand tons, and in May it amounted to less than 89 thousand tons daily.

As it became known, in the first half of 2013, 16 million 542 thousand tons of steel and 14 million 477 thousand tons of cast iron were melted in Ukraine, which is 1.8 and 0.3 percent less, respectively, than in the APPG-2012.

In addition, in January -June 2013, the production of total metal rolling decreased by 2 percent and amounted to 14 million 682 thousand tons, including the production of steel pipes by 24 percent - to 848 thousand tons.

During the reporting period of the supply of scrap metal on the country's road plants, to 2 million 252 thousand tons were reduced, which is 13 percent less than the first half of last year.

According to the Association of the OP Metallurgprom, in 2013, the metallurgical companies of Ukraine plan to increase the production of a total rental in relation to 2012 by 6.4 percent to 31 million tons, steel - by 5.6 percent - up to 34 million 400 thousand tons, cast iron - 4.6 percent - up to 29 million 900 thousand tons.

At the same time, experts of the Ukrpromvneshekspertiza State Enterprise believe that Ukrainian metallurgists this year will increase the smelting of steel by 3 percent - up to 33 million 700 thousand tons. At the same time, they predict that at best, 8 million 600 thousand tons of steel products will sell in the domestic market.
