Mr. Barysh Isler Vice-Governor of the city of Hanon in the Castamon Province on the Black Sea coast, told the press that 22 million tone of copper reserves were found during drilling work carried out by intelligence companies in the Middle East. He also added that after studies conducted by the ASYA (AMC) mining company, 10 million were discovered at the first stages last year.
This is the largest copper deposit in Turkey. In addition, in Castamon, underground resources include not only copper, but also mercury, iron ore, clay, coal and nickel. There are also natural thermal and mineral springs.
ASYA conducted reconnaissance work during the year. In the process of drilling, potential copper deposits were found in the amount of 22 million tons. The Main Directorate of Research and Intelligence of Mineral Fossils, ETI-Copper, Sarkuysan Company is currently still continuing drilling. In addition, for all divisions of the company, the full workplaces according to working conditions and rest. The levels of copper ore are analyzed now. Using special stone cutting machines, they receive samples that are sent to laboratory studies.
In the fourth quarter of 2014 in the region, the construction of a mining plant will be completed in order to extract and process copper ore at the end of next year.
Currently, the population of the district is about 6 thousand people, of which half lives in the city of Hanon. The city of Hanon is waiting for serious changes and investment projects. It will expand and build up, because some mines and managers plan to live here with their families.
