The European Union warned Ukraine on Friday that the time allotted to resolve trade disputes and the signing of a signal trade agreement expire, and the last round of interstate negotiations did not give absolutely any results.
Ukraine has repeatedly announced the intention to sign an agreement on the political association and free trade with 28 EU countries at the autumn summit in Vilnius. However, she still has to fulfill Brussels' conditions regarding trade preferences, widely distributed to almost all sectors of Ukrainian industry from the automotive industry and ending with the restriction of the import of metallurgical coke.
Among the protectionist steps, the consequences of which will soon affect the international relations of Ukraine and the bill on the so -called state support of metallurgy, which is purely declarative in nature and, nevertheless, allows you to open anti -dumping investigations regarding the Ukrainian production metal production, as this is happening today in the United States.
The Ukrainian authorities, trying to fill the budget at the expense of importers, announced an increase in marginal tariffs by hundreds of goods, which caused a flurry of criticisms from other members of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
In Kyiv, this week was visited by Deputy Head of the General Director for the Trade of the European Commission. He met with the Ukrainian Minister of Economics Igor Prasolov. Ukraine raised specific questions about the restrictions on the import of cars, coke, renewable energy equipment and other goods.
According to the European Commissioner, the Ukrainian side is not going to meet: “Our expectations cannot be realized, the Ukrainian side was not able to propose a complete solution to problems in relations with the EU,” emphasizes in his report. “The maximum that was promised is that the Ukrainian authorities will reflect on possible actions.”
The EU clearly made it clear that it was disappointed with the results of negotiations. “Time is leaving, and the result of negotiations was the promise to continue negotiations,” the European Commission said in today's statement.
The EU has already postponed the Association and Free Trade Agreement with Ukraine in 2011, when Ukrainian justice threw a former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, the key enemy of the President Viktor Yanukovych.
The EU warns that in the event of a disruption of negotiations, it will take several years to start them again, since the elections and another rotation of the authorities will begin in Ukraine.
