The Minister of Economic Development and Trade Igor Prasolov met with the Minister of Trade of Iraq Hyrallah Hassan Babeker. During the negotiations, the Ukrainian official informed the representative of Iraq that Ukraine wants to increase the export of metal distribution to the Arab Republic. In addition, Ukrainian metallurgists intend to expand the nomenclature of metal products exported to Iraq.
Prasolov expressed confidence that it was time for more fruitful cooperation in the field of mechanical engineering and joint implementation of a number of projects in Iraq.
Iraqi Minister supported the Ukrainian colleague and said that his country is currently investing in huge funds in restoring the economy after the American occupation and counting on help from Ukraine.
“When restoring infrastructure and factories in Iraq, we will rely on the help of friendly countries, and one of these countries is Ukraine,” said Hassan Babeker.
The Minister of Trade of Iraq suggested Prasolov to think about direct cooperation with Iraq and, in particular, the transfer of metallurgical capacities to this country. In this case, Ukrainian companies will receive various benefits and preferences, as well as the full support of the Iraqi authorities.
“We would now like to talk about direct cooperation with the Iraqi market, in particular, the opening of branches of Ukrainian companies in Iraq, the opening of representative offices, and the transfer of production facilities to Iraq,” said Babeker.
