Putin in Kyiv awarded Popov with orders and medals and invited Yanukovych to think about security

During the events of the 1025th anniversary of the forcible baptism of Rus' dedicated to the solemn celebration, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the Kyiv Metropolitan and All Ukraine by Vladimir of Alexander Nevsky, and six more metropolitans of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC MP) received the Order of Friendship and Honorary Customs of the President of Russia.

During a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych Vladimir Putin proposed discussing issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of security.

The Russian president emphasized that contacts at the highest level between the two countries have recently occurred on an ongoing basis.

At the same time, Putin recalled that tomorrow two presidents will take part in the celebration of the Day of the Russian Fleet in Sevastopol.

“Tomorrow we will have another holiday, thanks to you it has become common - the festival of the Navy. I hope this will be another good reason to talk about security cooperation, ”Putin said, adding that there are many threats and challenges for two countries.

In turn, Yanukovych proposed to briefly discuss the current agenda of bilateral negotiations.

“I am sure that we have a lot of mutual interests, questions that are interesting to Ukraine and Russia, which can create conditions for the development of our economies, mutual cooperation in a number of industries,” he said.

As reported, today on July 27 at 10 a.m. in Kyiv, a festive prayer began on the monument to St. Vladimir on the occasion of the 1025th anniversary of the baptism of Kievan Rus. Together with religious figures, the presidents of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, Vladimir Putin, Moldova Nikolai Timofti and Serbia Tomislav Nikolich prayed.

According to the plans, after the prayer service, Viktor Yanukovych will hold a number of bilateral meetings with the presidents of countries who arrived at celebration.
