The UAE will increase the consumption of metal rolling by 25 percent

The GULF News news agency reports that the increase in demand for steel in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will exceed 25 percent and amount to 3 million 600 thousand tons at the end of 2013.

“In the Steel market of the UAE, there was a steady increase in 2012 to 2 million 100 thousand tons and 3 million 600 thousand tons are expected by the end of 2013,” said the General Director and owner of the Conares metallurgical factory with a headquarters in Dubai Bharat Bhatia.

Mr. Bhatia believes that such a significant increase in consumption will occur mainly due to the development of the domestic market and the construction sector of the kingdom. Today, only six companies participate in the metallurgical business of the emirates, he says.

Given the 100 percent growth of metal sales, Conares intends to increase their production capacities in anticipation of the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects in the Dubai region and the construction of a nuclear power plant in Abu Dhabi.

The development of the railway and marine infrastructure will significantly increase sales to the market of the Persian Gulf countries, and the introduction of import duties for steel imports in the amount of 5 percent even more stimulates the domestic production of metal products, says Bharat Bhatia.
