Ukraine has increased export and iron ore imports

In the first half of 2013, iron ore exports from Ukraine grew by 11.4 percent, to 19 million 85 thousand 228 tons, and imports - by 24.3 percent, to 1 million 602 thousand tons, compared to 19 million. This was reported by the Ministry of income and fees of Ukraine.

In monetary terms, income from exports of iron ore raw materials increased in an annual comparison by 10.7 percent, to 1 billion 800 million dollars.

The OP "Metallurg" explained the growth of iron ore exports by reducing domestic consumption - steel production in the first half of the year decreased by 2 percent, to 16 million 500 thousand tons.

It is much more profitable to trade iron ore today than steel, and the more metal rolling. The profitability of mining companies is 18 - 22 percent on average in the country, while in production steel companies are fighting for its positive significance and is not always successful.

Analysts expect an increase in investment in the mining industry of Ukraine over the next two years. One of the largest mining companies Ferrexpo voiced plans to increase capacities to 12 million tons of pellets until the end of 2014.
