Zaporizhstal fights for the environmental safety of production

The Department of the Zaporizhzhya Republican Administration for Ecology and the use of natural resources conducted a workshop at which aspects of environmental safety were considered when handling industrial and consumer waste, as well as the main areas of work in this area.

The Metallurgical Plant Zaporizhstal took an active part of the workmum, which approved the positive steps of the enterprise to resolve issues regarding industrial waste. The sequence of the plant was emphasized in the implementation of the Metinvest Group program aimed at re -use of production waste and a decrease in their volume by improving production process technologies.

General Director Rostislav Shurma noted that the Zaporizhstal plant must strive to constantly reduce the negative impact on the environment, which is directly related to the processing and reduction of production waste. In 2013, the plant by 65 percent increased the sale of granular slag, the volume of which amounted to 580 thousand tons at 348 thousand tons for the corresponding period of 2012.

Over the past seven months of 2013, the Zaporozhstal plant increased the level of efficiency of the company's current cycles. Thus, more than 70 thousand tons of sludges were detained and returned to the production process. At the same time, iron -containing sludges became a secondary source of raw materials.

A positive effect is expected from putting into operation in May 2013 of Aglomashina No. 1, equipped with modern gas treatment equipment, which not only reduces dust emissions into the atmosphere, but also provides a return of about 6 thousand tons of iron -containing waste annually.
