In the second quarter of 2013, Ukraine left the list of the three largest foreign markets in Gazprom, which is reflected in the company's statement. Even Belarus was ahead of Ukraine, whose economy is slightly more modest than Ukrainian.
Over the past six months of this year, Ukraine bought about 10 billion cubic meters of gas from the Russian Gazprom, that is, 40 percent lower compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. At the same time, Germany acquired 18.49 billion cubic meters from Gazprom, and Italy is 13.1 billion. Türkiye takes the third position in the list of the largest sales markets for Gazprom, having bought 12.9 billion cubic meters of gas.
In the second half of this year, the purchase of fuel in Ukraine may increase, as this is necessary to replenish underground storage facilities, which are a margin for the winter. Kyiv has already said that in August he was going to buy no more than 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas. At the same time, the general plan of Naftogaz, the Ukrainian State Importer, is 18 billion cubic meters, and other structures should purchase about 9 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
The efforts of the Ukrainian authorities are directed to replace Gazprom as a fuel supplier and are explained by the fact that the proposed gas price is extremely high. The Russian monopolist sells gas to Ukraine at a price of more than $ 400 per 1 thousand cubic meters, which is much higher than the price for the same Belarus.
