The United States reduced scrap exports in the first half of 2013

According to the US International Trading Commission, steel scrap exports from the country during the 6-month period from January to June 2013 slightly decreased compared to export for the same period in 2012.

The total export of steel scrap in the first half of 2013 amounted to 9.75 million tons. Export for the period under consideration became 3.85 percent lower than the total export volume of 10.14 million tons in the first 6 months of 2012. The volume of scrap exports significantly decreased in June. The total volume of scrap exports in June amounted to 1.4 million tons, which is 34.5 percent less than the previous month and 9.5 percent when comparing the year by the year.

The largest export area of ​​scrap for the United States was Türkiye. The country's export to Turkey amounted to 2.7 million tons in the first half of the year, which is 0.9 percent more than in the same period last year. Taiwan imported 1.6 million tons of steel scrap from the United States for this period of 2013. Export to Taiwan decreased by 10.3 percent year by the year. During the six -month period of this year, scrap exports from the United States to South Korea amounted to 1 million tons, significantly decreasing compared to the first half of the previous year, which is expressed in 37.7 percent drop.
