According to the World Steel Association (WorldSteel), steel production (DRI) in July 2013 increased by 9.78 percent of the APPG-2012 and amounted to 4 million 736 thousand tons throughout the world.
Most of all, in the DRI process, was obtained in India, which has long been the leader in the introduction of this technology. More than one and a half million DRI steel (1 million 570 thousand tons) were obtained here. Iran with the July production of DRI at the level of 1 million 314 thousand tons came to the second place. In third place was Mexico released 515 thousand tons of iron of direct recovery.
Direct iron restoration (DRI) is the process of restoring iron from iron ore or pellets using gases (CO, h2, Nh3), solid carbon, gases and solid carbon jointly. The process is carried out at a temperature of about 1000 degrees Celsius, in which an empty ruddy breed is not brought to slags, harmful impurities (Si, Mn, P, S) are not restored, and the metal is very clean.
