MMK strengthens cooperation with TMK

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and TMK held a meeting of their coordinating council in the city of Volzhsky, Volgograd Region. The parties discussed the results of joint work and outlined areas for further cooperation. The last meeting was the 27th for the coordinating council. It was attended by the heads and specialists of the technical and commercial services of MMK and TMK, as well as representatives of the Volzhsky and Northern pipe plants of TMK and the Taganrog metallurgical plant.

The meeting summarized the results of cooperation between the companies since 2016, as well as the results of MMK's participation in large-diameter pipe projects implemented by TMK. In 2018, over half a million tonnes of MMK's flat products were shipped to TMK's pipe plants. In the first 9 months of 2019, shipments of MMK metal products to TMK enterprises will amount to more than 660,000 tons. MMK's share in the supply of flat products for TMK in January-September will amount to 83.4%. In addition, at the meeting of the coordinating council, issues of the quality of metal products, the development of new types of metal products for TMK and other issues of cooperation were considered.

The pipe industry is one of MMK's key segments on the domestic market. It accounts for more than a quarter of all MMK's sales in Russia. MMK firmly maintains its position as the largest supplier of equipment for the production of welded pipes in Russia. Last year, the Company shipped a total of 3.3 million tonnes of hot-rolled steel to the Russian market, of which about 56% came from pipe manufacturers. In the first half of 2019, shipments of steel products from MMK to pipe industry enterprises increased by 28% compared to the same period last year. The total volume of supplies to the industry in the first half of this year reached 1.32 million tons, which is 31.4% of the total volume of supplies by MMK to the domestic market. Among the consumers of MMK's products are all the leading companies in the pipe industry in Russia.
