NLMK expands production of premium steel grades

Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant has launched a new complex for laser processing of electrical transformer steel. The design capacity of the complex is 54 thousand tons per year, the press service of the company reports.

"This is the fourth line for the production of metal with improved magnetic properties at the sites of the NLMK Group. Laser treatment of the metal surface at the final stage of production allows to reduce specific magnetic losses by 8-10%. For customers, this makes it possible to produce energy-efficient transformers in accordance with growing market requirements.

NLMK Group is the only transformer steel producer in the CIS and holds more than 10% of the world market. Currently, NLMK is building a new plant for the production of transformer steel in India, its capacity will be 64 thousand tons per year, "- said in a press release.
