Azovstal seeks to cancel the increase in tariffs for railway transportation

Азовсталь добивается отмены повышения тарифов на железнодорожные перевозки
The Azovstal metallurgical plant, operating in Mariupol, Donetsk region and part of the Metinvest group, has filed a lawsuit with the Kiev District Administrative Court (OASK), in which it asks the court to cancel the order of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, which raised tariffs for freight transportation by rail from 17 August 2021.

According to the press release of the court, OASK Kiev registered a corresponding claim of PJSC "MK" Azovstal "against the Ministry of Infrastructure. The suit, in particular, is about the appeal of the order of the Ministry of Infrastructure No. 418 dated August 11, 2021" On Amendments to the Coefficients Applied to the Tariffs of the Collection tariffs for the carriage of goods by rail within Ukraine and related services. "According to the plaintiff, this order was adopted by the ministry in violation of the provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine and the law of Ukraine" On the fundamentals of state regulatory policy in the field of economic activity. "

Currently, the court is deciding the issue of opening administrative proceedings. As reported, "Ukrzaliznytsia" from August 17, 2021 increased tariffs for freight rail transportation in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Earlier in July, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced a draft order on a two-stage increase in tariffs for cargo transportation of a group of goods of 1 and 2 tariff classes from September-2021 by 8%, and from January 2022 - by 20.4% and 6.5%, respectively. At the same time, a number of associations, federations and unions of enterprises opposed the unjustified increase in railway tariffs. Azovstal is part of the Metinvest group, the main shareholders of which are the SCM group (71.24%) and Smart Holding (23.76%), jointly managing the company.
